System Operation
The Park Hills annual water quality report
shows water hardness due to calcium carbonate levels of approximately 700 parts per million (mg/l) or 40 grains per gallon.
Periodic flushing of residential
hot water tanks may help to extend water heater service life and avoid odors from hot
water mineralization. Read your owner's manual for further information on extending service
life under hard-water conditions.
Chapter 700 of the Park Hills City Code pertains to utilities
in Park Hills. Park Hills Utility Department does not locate private water or sewer lines
when contacted for line locating by Dig-Rite or others. The Utility Department is only
authorized to identify the location of lines maintained by the department.
In the event of a water main failure, please tune your radio to 1240 AM for
information such as a Boil Water Order.
Other local news media may also carry information for water customers if such measures are needed.
In the event of heavy fire hydrant use, some localized, temporary discoloration of the water may
occur. This residue may be flushed away by normal toilet use or lawn-watering before resuming
dishwasher or washing-machine use.
The City of Park Hills Water and Wastewater Departments function as an
enterprise operation. The Water and Wastewater systems employ 26 workers to perform the varied
jobs that keep the systems operating efficiently.
