Curbside Recycling

Curbside recycling is strictly voluntary and complements the city's four-bag trash limit.  With the help of financial assistance received from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Southeast Missouri Solid Waste Management District, blue 18 gal. plastic bins, including recycling information, were provided one to each household receiving trash service within the city limits.  Acceptable recyclables are broken down into two categories(see acceptable items): fiber, and containers.  Unacceptable material placed in the curbside container will not be picked up by the city and will be left in the container.

The city is divided into collection days (see collection day map here).  Participants are asked to set out full curbside bins by 7:00 a.m. the morning of their scheduled pick up day. Residents can recycle without separating paper from plastic and cans. Recycling is carried out through the St. Francois County Environmental Corporation (431-4768). They exclude glass and plastic bags from the curbside recycling. Residents are asked not to include plastic bags or glass in the curbside recycling containers.
