Curbside Recycling
Curbside recycling is strictly
voluntary and complements the city's two-bag trash limit. With the help of
financial assistance received from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources
and the Southeast Missouri Solid Waste Management District, blue 18 gal.
plastic bins, including recycling information, were provided one to each
household receiving trash service within the city limits. Acceptable
recyclables are broken down into two categories(see acceptable items):
fiber, and containers. Unacceptable material placed in the
curbside container will not be picked up by the city and will be left in
the container.
The city is divided into three collection days(see collection days).
Participants are asked to set out full curbside bins by 7:00 a.m. the morning of their
scheduled pick up day. Recycling recently became simpler for Park Hills residents.
Residents can now recycle without separating paper from plastic and cans. Officials at the Saint Francois County
Environmental Corporation (431-4768) recently informed the city of the change in recycling policy
at Resource Management, Inc. The new policy excludes glass and plastic bags from the
curbside recycling. Residents are asked not to include plastic bags or glass in the
curbside recycling containers.

Christmas Tree Recycling
The City of Park Hills, in conjunction with the St. Francois Co. Environmental
Corp.(SFCEC), and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch have participated yearly
in a Christmas Tree Recycling Program since ‘95. The program usually
runs for about three weeks following Christmas and is open to anyone.
At a collection site dedicated by the city, all clean trees and wreaths
are welcome. Please remember: NO artificial trees accepted,
remove all decorations, lights, tree stand, and plastic tree bag.
Anyone interested in trees for their property/pond are asked to call
431-1608, with a tree count. At the end of the collection period,
the remaining trees are counted and mulched. Help yourself, the free
mulch is available to anyone, first come, first serve.
